It all starts with a conversation

How the process works

#1 Map It

Getting it out of your head is what this is all about.

This is a focussed working session for an idea, challenge, opportunity or project that needs clarity.

Before we meet, I’ll get some context around what you’re trying to achieve. Then we’ll pull it apart together!

We’ll take a look at what matters, what doesn’t, what you know, what you don’t know, and what needs to happen next.

You’ll leave with a clearer direction and a practical map forward. And if you’d like, I can stick around and help you implement it too.

#2 Map It & Make it Happen

Because sometimes a plan isn’t the problem!

You might already have more than enough plans. What you actually need is someone to help turn this one into a reality.

We agree on the outcome, the scope, and what each of us owns. Then, we get to work.

Projects might run for a few weeks or several months. The important thing is that we’re working towards something tangible.

#3 Kathy on Call

A trusted second brain when you need one.

For a small number of clients, I work on an ongoing basis as a sounding board, problem solver, and the person they call when something needs figuring out or doing.

Bring me the question, opportunity, half-formed idea, that business thing that’s keeping you awake at 3am. We’ll work out what to do about it.

Good for:

  • new ideas

  • stalled projects

  • competing priorities

  • business challenges

  • those “I don’t even know where to start” moments

Good for:

  • defined projects

  • keeping me around after we’ve mapped the way forward to:

    • research

    • organise

    • coordinate

    • problem solve

    • keeping things moving

Good for:

  • someone who wants:

    • ongoing support

    • more than a VA or task-doer

    • a sounding board

    • experience

    • good judgement

    • to keep things moving

Why ‘Chaos Cartographer’

Because business rarely travels in a straight line

My clients don’t all come from the same industry, and that’s intentional.

I work particularly well with founders, consultants, small business owners, professional service businesses, producers, creatives, and people working across wine, hospitality, events and experiences.

The common denominator isn’t what you do. It’s how you think.

You’re curious. You care about doing things well. You’ve got plenty of ideas and you’re comfortable having someone challenge your thinking. You’re looking for someone who can understand the bigger picture without needing everything explained seventeen times.

If that sounds like you, we’ll probably get along just fine!

One of the things I’m particularly good at is working out what the picture should be. I can move between strategic and the ridiculously practical.

We might spend Tuesday morning chatting about what your new customer experience should ‘feel’ like. By Tuesday afternoon I could be researching building the project plan, talking to suppliers, researching venues, or working out why something isn’t happening.

I don’t believe ‘thinking’ and ‘doing’ need other live in separate boxes. Sometimes, the most useful person in your business is the one who can do both.

You don’t need a proposal, or even a scope of work. And please, don’t spend hours trying to make your idea sound impressive before you contact me!

Tell me the messy version. What’s going on. What are you trying to make happen. Where are you getting stuck.

That’s where we’ll start. Bring me the messy!

A cartographer doesn’t choose the destination for you. They help you understand the terrain. That’s how I see my role.

Ideas collide, opportunities appear out of the blue, your priorities change, things get stuck.

You bring the destination, even if it is still a little fuzzy. And together, we’ll work out the terrain, the obstacles, the possibilities, and the route to get you there. Then we start moving.
